2006 Results

The BASIC program has 20 enrolled fields for the 2006 cotton growing season. The fields range from Merced to Madera to Fresno counties with about 1,800 enrolled acres. Together the BASIC growers farm more than 20,000 acres of cotton in California’s Central Valley. BASIC offers these growers bio-intensive IPM strategies designed to reduce chemical inputs, along with technical support for this more biological approach to growing cotton. The BASIC program has been able to consistently achieve significant chemical reduction with no loss of yields.
In 2006, BASIC is looking at the feasibility of marketing the cotton from the program as a valued added product. We are currently seeking a markets for this high quality San Joaquin Valley cotton.
